Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette

Urban Decay has once again teamed up with Disney to bring us the sequel to their original Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows set, and to celebrate the release of the movie Alice through the Looking Glass .

Can I just say that Urban Decay has the best packaging in the makeup game. They put so much love into packaging design and it shows. I mean, look at this...

COME ON THAT'S BEAUTIFUL!  I love the whole trippy kaleidoscope theme going on. And then you open it up and you get a 3D butterfly that flaps its wings when you open and close the "doors". Urban Decay packaging is #goals. OK I'm done gushing about the packaging lets talk about the actual product. Let's see what Urban Decay says.

"Each Eyeshadow features Urban Decay's Pigment Infusion System, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power and blendability. UD even included a double-ended brush for the perfect application.

This palette features colorful, kaleidoscopic artwork woven out of flowers and butterflies and includes several quotes from the film. Hits of embossing and gloss give the palette a luxe, dimensional feel. When you lift the lid and open up the doors inside, a three-dimensional butterfly springs up. Pull open the palette's drawer to reveal the shadows, which are arranged by character in columns from left to right: Alice, Mad Hatter, Mirana (the White Queen), Iracebeth (the Red Queen) and Time (a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock). "

I love the color scheme of palette, it's a great blend of "wearable" colors as well of a bunch of really interesting pops of color.

Shades by Column

All in all the shades are pretty good. There are some misses in there though. Most disappointingly, the shade metamorphosis. In the pan, it's this beautiful deep periwinkle-esque color with fine teal shimmer in it. I was super excited, it's so pretty in the pan but you have to build it up A LOT

Metamorphosis single coat (top), 5 FREAKING COATS (bottom)
Overall though I really like this palette. You get 20 shadows and a nifty dual ended brush for $60

9/10 (lost 2 points for metamorphosis, but gained one back for beautiful packaging) IT'S FAB
