August 2016

August’s product of the month is one that has become one of my favorite products of all eternity. It’s Anastasia Beverly Hill’s new permanent (so excited about that) eyeshadow palette, the Modern Renaissance palette. I’ve been using this palette almost every day for about a month now, so I have a good grasp on how this product performs.
Pros:
- GORGEOUS Color Scheme
This warm toned palette contains 14 shades ranging from browns, to oranges, to cranberry colors.
2. It’s Matte
Well… mostly matte there like 4 shimmery shades. While I love a good shimmer (trust me I’ve been known to do a full glitter daytime eye look), everyone’s been doing shimmer. It's so refreshing to see a matte palette that isn’t 28000 different shades of brown.
3. Pigment City!
There is not a single color in this palette that is lacking in pigment. Each shade pack a punch of color and performs as nicely as the next.
4. Standalone Palette
To me, the test of an amazing palette is its ability to stand alone when it comes to creating looks. I can’t think of a single palette I have in my collection that I use on it’s own. Whether it's a neutral palette or not, I always have to use at least two palettes for a look. With this palette however, I can find transition colors, crease colors, lid colors, brow bone highlight, and inner corner highlight colors.
5. I actually like the Brush?
I cannot express to you how much I hate the brushes that come with palettes. They are so useless. In fact, I use my Urban Decay palette brushes as lip brushes. But the brush in this palette is pretty good. It comes with a dual-ended eyeshadow brush. One on side it’s a nice fluffy blending/crease brush, and the other side is a flat packing/lid brush. And it works pretty well. I can take this entire palette and travel with it and be fine.
Cons:- Formula
This actually doesn’t bother me much, but I know it will bother other people so I feel that need to mention it.
- It’s a different formula than the individual shadows, still a good formula but it is different.
- There are different formulas within the palette itself. Some shades are really soft (vermeer/primavera), some shades are almost too soft and kick tons of powder (cyprus umber), some shades are a little scratchier but still have good color payoff (love letter). However whatever shade you pick up, you’re going to have to tap of the excess, you will have fallout.
2. Packaging
Don’t get me wrong, I love the pale pink velvet it’s super pretty but It is LITERALLY impossible to keep this thing clean. Palette front |
