Favorite Brushes: Blush

I am by no means an expert on on blush. I just recently started wearing it. I didn’t think that it looked right on my skin, but the key is to find a blush that works for you, while simultaneously trying to not look like a clown. Becca’s shimmering skin perfecting luminous blush in the shade Dahlia saved my life. Now I love to wear blush, and I think it’s flattering on everyone. There are many different blush brush shapes ranging from taped dome, to angled, to round. They all have one quality in common, they tend to be fluffy and not too big. You should be going for a wash of color in a small area., so the brush doesn’t need to be densely packed of incredibly large.

I have a two step blush application process. First I use a MAC #158 SE, which was from a christmas collection that is unfortunately no longer available but it is comparable to the MAC #168 from the Zac Posen collection. They both have soft, fluffy bristles and they are angled as well. I use this brush to place the blush, and then I use the Sephora Pro Airbrush #55 to blend out the blush, which also helps to sheer out the color.
